Revit: Dual Processor Computers Benefit Rendering

While researching a support issue, I found this on the support.autodesk.com site which defines two situations when Revit can benefit from a dual processor computer. Just type this support.autodesk.com into the address bar of your browser; do not add http:// or www in front of this.

Issue

You want to know if Autodesk® Revit® supports dual processors.

Solution

Autodesk® Revit® does not make use of dual processors; however, note the following:

A small performance improvement may be noted on a system with dual processors if Autodesk® Revit® does not have to share processor time with other applications.

AccuRender (embedded in Revit) does take advantage of dual processors, resulting in raytrace and radiosity processing that has been reported to improve by as much as 90%.

AutoCAD-based software can experience a significant increase in application performance when installed on computer systems that have two processors. So review your inventory of AutoCAD computer systems that may have dual processors...they might be usable for certain Revit procedures as identified in the circumstances listed above.
